Andreas Huhn and Florian Viehmann Become First International Entries for 2WD Superprix
The German duo will travel to Lydden Hill next month as Europe's biggest two-wheel-drive rallycross event begins to attract overseas competitors
Two experienced German rallycross competitors have become the first confirmed international entries for next month's 2WD Superprix.
Andreas Huhn and Florian Viehmann will both make the trip from Germany to compete in the Super Modified category at what has quickly established itself as Europe's largest event dedicated exclusively to two-wheel-drive rallycross machinery.
Held at the legendary Lydden Hill circuit in Kent, the birthplace of rallycross, the event combines competitors from the British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy and the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship while welcoming guest entries from across Europe.
The more experienced of the pair is 62-year-old Andreas Huhn from Fuldatal.
Huhn will campaign his Honda Civic Type R and arrives with an impressive motorsport résumé stretching back nearly four decades. His racing career began in 1987 before switching his focus to rallying in 1991. He remained active in rally competition for more than two decades before making the move into rallycross in 2014.
Since then, Huhn has become one of Germany's most successful rallycross driver, securing back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. His wealth of experience and proven record make him an intriguing addition to the growing Superprix field.
Joining Huhn will be 29-year-old Florian Viehmann from Habichtswald.
Viehmann will compete in his distinctive turbocharged Volkswagen Polo 6R and arrives as one of Germany's most accomplished two-wheel-drive rallycross drivers of the past decade.
His rallycross career began in 2012 following several years in karting between 2007 and 2011. The German quickly established himself as a front-runner, finishing as vice-champion in the German Rallycross Championship in both 2013 and 2014.
Still one of the quickest drivers in the German paddock, Viehmann adds another high-profile name to the Super Modified category.
With Huhn and Viehmann now confirmed, the international flavour of the event is already beginning to grow and further overseas entries are expected to be announced before the action gets underway next month.
